What happened
ChatEurope, an EU-funded AI news chatbot launched by fifteen European media organizations and built on a Mistral model, was found in early tests to return outdated sources and off-topic answers. It pointed to a 2018 source and old election results, and omitted the Russian invasion of Ukraine when asked about threats to Europe. The platform's real-world results were reported to fall short of its goals.
