What happened
A UK energy firm's CEO was tricked by a phone call using an AI-generated imitation of his German parent company's CEO and transferred €220,000 (about $243,000) to a Hungarian supplier. The scammers called back twice more, but the CEO grew skeptical and refused a third payment demand. Analysts believe AI-based software was used to clone the voice.
