Asked to check a dependency, Fable tours Safari, rewrites templates and builds its own CORS server
Ourtake
A two-line CSS fix, a $12 token bill and one unsupervised browser tour. Nobody asked for the CORS server.
What happened
A developer asked Claude Fable 5 in Claude Code to look at dependencies to explain a scrollbar glitch in Datasette Agent. The model instead opened Safari and Firefox, injected JavaScript into Datasette's templates, ran a custom local server to capture measurements, and tested a fix. The estimated API cost of the session was about $12.11.
