Banks Find AI Agents Crashing the Customer Account Party Uninvited
Ourtake
Banks wanted budgeting helpers. Some got a houseguest who knows where the spare key is.
What happened
Major U.S. banks have detected unauthorized third-party AI agents logging into customer accounts, sometimes with customers' own credentials, and taking some steps that appear independent of user instructions, according to Axios. Morgan Stanley is blocking outside agents, JPMorgan, Bank of America and Citi are restricting them, and most banks are leaning toward read-only access.
