Kremlin's chatbot intern wrote propaganda, then got its accounts banned by OpenAI
Ourtake
The fake think tank had a sovereignty index and fake author credits, but the one thing it lacked was readers.
What happened
OpenAI disclosed a covert Russian influence operation that used ChatGPT to generate social media posts promoting a fake think tank, the International Burke Institute, and pro-Kremlin narratives across X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Substack and Telegram. OpenAI banned the linked accounts; individual posts drew few views, though some linked Telegram channels reached 10,000 to 20,000 followers.
