What happened
Hundreds of fake pro-Trump accounts with AI-generated influencers have appeared on social platforms ahead of the US midterms, per the New York Times. At least 304 were found on TikTok alone, and some drew over 35,000 followers. TikTok calls them spam and says it plans to remove them; who runs them is unclear.
