What happened
OpenAI's threat report describes ten international operations that used its models for scams, political influence and fraud, including a job recruitment scam with fake testimonials and payouts and a Russian campaign targeting Germany's 2025 federal election. Chinese-linked campaigns used AI for fake media accounts and AI-generated profile pictures. OpenAI says it shut the operations down and that the reach of the Russian campaign was limited.
