What happened
An unknown attacker used AI-generated voice and text messages to impersonate U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, contacting at least five high-ranking officials and dignitaries via Signal and text, and some State Department employees via email. The State Department has launched a full investigation; whether the attempts succeeded has not been disclosed.
