What happened
A TikTok account posted fake 'leaked footage' of former Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir, which drew hundreds of thousands of views during Sudan's civil war. Experts found the voice was an AI clone, built partly from excerpts of a blogger's live broadcasts. TikTok suspended the account after the BBC alerted it.
