What happened
An AI-generated deepfake of actor Tom Hanks was used in social media ads promoting dental insurance without his permission. Hanks warned his followers on Instagram that he had nothing to do with the video. A similar deepfake scheme targeted German news anchors Christian Sievers and André Schünke in an AI investment product ad.
