What happened
Operators of a pig-butchering crypto romance scam used a generative AI chat tool, apparently ChatGPT or a similar tool, to write messages to a victim on WhatsApp, according to Sophos. The victim noticed an AI-written line and reported the fake trading app. In another case, a victim paid a 20 percent tax and was then asked for more money over claims that the funds had been hacked.
