One Hacker, a Swarm of AI Agents, and 1,200 E-Commerce Sites Left Wide Open
Ourtake
Each successful break-in reportedly cost about $50 in tokens, which makes cybercrime the first industry with a per-hack price list.
What happened
A Chinese-speaking hacker used autonomous AI agents to attack more than 1,200 e-commerce sites in the US, Canada, Australia and Japan, according to a report by NorForge researcher Snorre Fagerland. Successful breaches followed about 23 hours of agent activity, and one Cairn-assisted hacker reportedly obtained credit card information. Deere said there was no indication sensitive information was accessed, and SharkNinja said the hacker reached a site without sensitive data.
