What happened
A Cornell University study found that OpenAI's Whisper speech recognition system invents content not present in about 1.4 percent of audio recordings, with 38 percent of the fabrications containing problematic material. Other researchers reported similar errors, and OpenAI advises against using Whisper in high-risk domains.
