What happened
A roundup of incidents in which AI-generated images and a cloned voice were used in political campaigns and disinformation, including fake images of a burning building near the Pentagon, a Chinese network of fake accounts using AI imagery to sway U.S. voters, and a Chicago mayoral candidate who said his voice was cloned. Microsoft and others reported several of the cases; some remain unverified.
