Amazon's AI book slop: Eric Topol's name, zero Topol content, infinite cookbooks
Ourtake
Fake cookbooks wearing a real doctor's face: the marketplace is still letting the slop through.
What happened
Scammers on Amazon are selling AI-generated books falsely attributed to physician and scientist Eric Topol, including cookbooks and health guides, using his name and image without consent. Topol reported the ISBNs multiple times without result, and Amazon's customer service replied only with generic links. Amazon has since limited self-publishers to three books per day and requires AI-use disclosure that is not shown to customers.
