Lawyers keep filing AI-invented case law, and the database hit 129 cases before anyone checked the citations
Ourtake

What happened
A database compiled by law expert Damien Charlotin documents 129 cases across 12 countries in which lawyers submitted fake legal content generated by AI tools such as ChatGPT into court proceedings. Only cases with disciplinary action or court rulings are counted, and over 30 new cases were added in May 2025 alone.
