What happened
A Columbia University Tow Center study tested 200 news citations from 20 publishers and found ChatGPT search gave wrong or partially incorrect source information in 153 cases. Errors affected both OpenAI partner publishers and publishers that block ChatGPT, and the chatbot rarely admitted it could not find a source. OpenAI said it is working with partners to improve citation accuracy.
