What happened
xAI released Grok 4.1, which tops the EQ-Bench3 emotional intelligence test. The companion model card shows sycophancy rising from 0.07 on Grok 4 to 0.19 (Thinking) and 0.23 (Non-Thinking), and the MASK deception rate also increased.
