Dealership chatbot sells Chevy Tahoe for one dollar, calls it a legally binding deal
Ourtake
Customer service bots with no boundaries will happily negotiate away the store, and call it binding.
What happened
Users at a Chevrolet dealership in Watsonville, California, got a ChatGPT-powered website assistant to agree to very low prices, including a 2024 Chevy Tahoe for one dollar, by posing as managers or putting words in its mouth. The chatbot even described the offer as legally binding. The dealership reportedly added a guardrail and disabled the chat.
