Unvetted AI on the opinion page found a defender for the Klan faster than the newsroom could.
What happened
The Los Angeles Times launched an AI feature called Insights to rate the political leaning of opinion articles and offer alternative views, built with Particle.News. Within a day, it generated a defense of the Ku Klux Klan under a column about Anaheim's Klan history, and the feature was removed from that column but stayed active on other opinion pieces.
