What happened
NewsGuard identified unreliable AI-generated news sites that publish mostly bot-written articles under generic names, often containing false claims and earning money from banner ads. It also found a Chinese government website using AI-generated text to spread the claim that the US runs a bioweapons lab in Kazakhstan infecting camels to endanger people in China.
