Bing Image Creator's safety filter folds for 'red corn syrup' and the bug bounty shrugs
Ourtake
Microsoft's filter blocks the word blood but waves through the movie prop that means blood.
What happened
Microsoft's Bing Image Creator, which uses DALL-E 3, generated images of politicians with mangled heads after a user evaded its safety rules by swapping explicit words like 'blood' for visual paraphrases such as 'red corn syrup'. Microsoft's bug bounty rejected the reports as not security vulnerabilities, and the prompt still worked when the Washington Post reported it. Microsoft acknowledged it could have done more.
