What happened
OnlyFake, a site that used AI to generate realistic fake identity documents, was built by a Ukrainian man and used by criminals and North Korean IT workers to evade KYC checks. After a 2024 press report, the FBI went undercover, and the operator was arrested in Romania in 2025, later receiving a time-served sentence of 12 months.
